“Here sleeps a girl with a head-full of magical dreams, a heart full of wonder and hands that will shape the world”

“Strong women wear their pain like they do stilettos. No matter how much it hurts, all you see is the beauty of it.”

“Be a girl with a mind, a woman with attitude, and a lady with class”

“Behind my smile is a hurting heart, behind my laugh I’m falling apart. Look closely at me and you will see, the girl I am, it isn’t me”

“Better to be strong than pretty and useless.”

“Girls will be girls! We laugh at the dumbest jokes, go along with the craziest ideas, and still manage to have the best times.”

This is who we are:

“Girls are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. The boys don’t want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren’t as good, but easy. So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they’re amazing. They just have to wait for the right boy to come along, the one who’s brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.”

TABLETS FOR TEXTBOOKS IN SCHOOLS

i-download (12).jpg

Today, books are still the primary medium of instruction in most schools. It is doubtful if these will totally be replaced by digital technology reading tools, but there are now perceptions that virtual literacy may very well ease out textual print literacy but the disadvantages of using books for learning are being debated upon.

Technology is being viewed as a savior. Given the fact that students are enamored by computer games which take much of their time at home, educators have begun to think that the computer screen can very well serve as a powerful educational medium.

Computer games have been adopted in developed countries as learning technology along with other audio-visual aids to teaching-and-learning. From studies, educational video gaming has been shown to inculcate competencies that relate to learning concentration, lasting memory recall and higher visual literacy.

 Tablets for schools

Use of tablets in public schools in the country may be difficult considering certain factors:

  1. Cost of one tablet for one student is not within budget capability or beyond capability of government which cannot even fully comply with one book for one student.
  2. Books have more durability compared with electronic gadgets due to handling, energy charging, heat and moist.
  3. Technical expertise for the learning software is not widely available.

Technology itself may be a key to problem resolution and Filipino ingenuity is called to respond to the challenge facing the digital generation of the millennium.

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY 2 PRACTICUM

i-download (10).jpg

Educational Technology 2 offers students the experiential process of adapting to technology integration within a student-centered paradigm.

The practicum phase consists of hand-on computer tutorials which the student teacher or professional teacher-trainee will need to make him/her capable.

The practicum phase consists in:

  1. Basic Microsoft Word (6 hrs.)

The tutorial familiarizes each individual learner to the basics of Microsoft Word. They will learn to use menus and toolbars of the software. They will be taught to type, edit and format text, sentences and paragraphs.

  1. Microsoft PowerPoint (6 hrs.)

The tutorial is a familiarization on the basics of Microsoft PowerPoint. It will train the learner to prepare PowerPoint presentations to enhance the teaching of subjects.

  1. Internet as tool of inquiry (4hrs.)

The tutorial will facilitate the finding of sources of information appropriate to a learning task.

Educational Technology 2 promises to bring the student teacher and the professional teacher trainee to the challenge of a new age –integrating technology in the teaching learning process. The brisk pace of technology advancement and innovation continues, but ET 2 is a preparation to bring our teachers to move ahead with their use of technology in the classroom.

The Filipino teacher shall be empowered to meet the technology challenges of a 21st century Digital Age.

THE INTERNET AND EDUCATION

i-download (9).jpg

Today schools are gearing up to take advantage of internet access, where they can plug into the library of Congress, make virtual visits to famous museums in the world, write to celebrities, and even send questions to heads of states.

The internet, also simply called the Net, Is the largest and far-flung network system-of-all-systems.

How is everything coordinated through the Internet? This is done through a standardized protocol (or set of rules for exchanging data) called Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

Getting around the Net

Everyday, the Net user-population and the available information continue to grow, and new ways are continuously being developed to tour the Internet.

The most attractive way to move around the Internet is called Browsing. Using a program called a browser, the user can use a mouse to point and click on screen icons to surf the Internet, particularly the World Wide Web (the Web), an Internet’s subset of text, images, and sounds are linked together to allow users to access data or information needed.

A view of educational uses of the Internet

Today, even elementary school graders in progressive counties like the United States are corresponding via e-mail with pen pals in all 50 states.

Educational software materials have also developed both in sophistication and appeal. There is now a wider choice from rote arithmetic or grammar lessons to discovery and innovation projects.

UNDERSTANDING HYPERMEDIA

understanding-hypermedia-1-728

The student has already become aware of multimedia or an audiovisual package that includes more than one instructional media (means of knowing) such as text, graphics, audio animation and video clip.

HYPERMEDIA is nothing but a multimedia, but this time packaged as an educational computer software where information is presented as an educational computer software where information is presented and student activities are integrated in a virtual learning environment.

Most educational IT applications are hypermedia and these include:

  • Tutorial software packages;
  • Knowledge webpages;
  • Simulation instructional games; and
  • Learning project management, and others.

Characteristics or hypermedia applications

There are two important features that are outstanding –among other features –that characterize the hypermedia software:

  1. Learner control.

This means the learner makes his own decisions on the path, flow or events of instruction.

  1. Learner wide range of navigation routes.

– This means that the learner controls the sequence and pace of his path depending on his/her ability and motivation.

– the learner also has a wide range of navigation routes such as by working on concepts he/she is already familiar with.

  1. Variety of media.

      – Hypermedia includes more than one media (text, graphics, audio, animation and video clip) but does not necessarily use all types of media in one presentation.

    – Hypermedia still does not replace life’s experience and learning from nature and life.

Note:

Even technologies admit that the computer has an IQ of zero and depends on what man can input or make of it. GIGO or “garbage-in, garbage out” is the very first principle that should be remembered about the computer.

THE SOFTWARE AS AN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE

images (16).jpg

Whenever people think about computers, they are most likely thinking about the computer machine such as the television –like monitor screen, the keyboard to type on, the printer which produces copies of text-and-graphics material, and the computer housing called “ the box” which contains the electronic parts and circuits ( the central processing unit) that receives / stores data and directs computer operations.

14.jpg

There are two kinds of software:

  1. The systems software. This is the operating system that is found or bundled inside all computer machines.
  2. The applications software. This contains the system that commands the particular task or solves a particular problem.

Microsoft Windows

  • Also referred to as a program, Microsoft windows or Windows for short is an operating environment between the user and the computer operating system. Also called a SHELL, it is a layer that creates the way the computer should work.

sp.jpg

Windows is in itself a self-contained operating system which provides:

  • User convenience– just a click a file name to retrieve data or click from program to program as easy as changing channels in your TV screen.
  • A new look- fancy border, smooth and streamlined text fonts.
  • Information center– windows puts all communications activities (e-mail, downloads etc. in a single screen icon); adapts/configures the computer for the internet.
  • Plug and play– configures the computer with added components, such as for sound and video.

Instructional software

It can be visited on the Internet or can be bought from software shops or dealers. The teacher through his school should decide on the best computer-based instructional (CBI) materials for the school resource collection.

I am very sad for what happened today, it is such a disappointment for me. I am very lonely, why is this happening to me? I feel like I am nothing, I am empty because I didn’t perfect the tasks that are given to us by Ma’am Gallardo. I do not know what to say, it is such a failure for me, another mistake that I’ve done.

At First I really know what should I do in our exam I read the direction carefully I analyzed it but then it is not enough. When it comes in excel shocks! Everything just begin to disappear until it comes in PowerPoint, the hyperlink it did not open correctly so sad! But all in all maybe it is just a test of God that all I need to be more brave enough to handle the failures.

It is a new group for us, because many of classmates didn’t bring their own laptop so we add new members for a meanwhile, there are Micalyn and Camille.

Happy being with them.

Ma’am Gallardo introduced to us the PUBLISHER, wherein she taught us how to create a greeting cards, business cards and newsletters. Its fun learning something new, because we know now that we can easily create our own greeting cards, business card and newsletters and many more in our own likes and dislikes.

Before we end our class meeting, Ma’am Gallardo gave us tasks that we need to do at home or we can often called it as assignment, in this assignment we need to create our own newsletter, but the topic or the article that we need to do is based on our blogs. We can choose only one blog to do as a newsletter and then we need to post it in our group.

So here is my work.

Tuesday, new day, new beginning! As a future educator, we need to know the different changes that are happening in our world just like engaging ourselves in using and familiarizing computers.

This day, some of my classmates didn’t bring their laptop so the technology is they need to grouped with others, so in our group Micalyn asks us if she can join with us, and for us theirs no problem with that so we says yes.
